SOLUTION ~ NO. <br /> <br />6989-94 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Flannery, Smith <br />George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION proclaiming November 27, 1994 through <br />December 3, 1994 as Winter Safety Week in Lakewood; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ohio has experienced record low temperatures <br />in the Winter of 1993 and snow emergencies have cost many <br />Ohioans their lives. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the winter season, with its potential for <br />severe weather and snow-related emergencies in fast approaching <br />Ohio; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many people die needlessly each winter <br />because they do not heed or are not aware of safety precautions <br />that might save their lives; and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, community awareness and planning for such <br />threats of blizzards, ice and snow storms can result in saving <br />of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special <br />populations such as senior citizens, handicapped, indigent and <br />homeless. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor designate <br />and proclaim November 27 thrOugh December 3, 1994, as "Ohio <br />Winter Safety Week" in Lakewood and further resolve that a <br />Weather Test will be conducted on Wednesday, November 30, 1994 <br />at 11 a.m. and such test exercise shall be specifically <br />designated for Countywide testing of the Emergency Broadcast <br />System and other appropriate components of emergency management. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of <br />this Resolution to Edwin C. Price, Director, Department of <br />Community Services and a certified copy to Edmund Mecklenburg, <br />Manager, Emergency Management Division and that a copy of this <br />Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />/ PRESIDENT <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
