RESOLUTION NO. 7026-95 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Larry Slavik and the fiftY-six <br />member Division of Refuse and Recycling in the Department of <br />Public Works on its achievement in boosting the dollars into the <br />City through newspaper recycling. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during his three and one half years tenure of <br />service as Operations Manager' for the Division of Refuse and <br />Recycling .Larry Slavik has continually worked toward an <br />efficient and cost effective recycling program; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Upon approach by the Cuyahoga County Solid <br />Waste District to implement a county-wide Newspaper Marketing Co <br />Op Larry Slavik discerned that the plan may be profitable for the <br />City and with an encouraging nod from the Administration led the <br />entire division in a fine tuning effort to accomodate the plan; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a contractor with whom Larry Slavik worked <br />enabled the City effective negotiating power in a changing market <br />and by establishing a market index the City turned a profit <br />ranking Lakewood number one on the County list of communities for <br />sending 1,900 tons of paper garnering a total of $41,000; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, regardless of the unpredictability of the <br />Refuse and Recycling industry an entire Division including <br />Manager, Larry Slavik, collectors and mechanical, technical and <br />public relations staff have worked together for-a cause for which <br />efforts and achievements are not unnoticed; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that this achievement <br />by the Division of Refuse of the Administration of the City of <br />Lakewood be given public cognizance and recognition. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That on behalf of the residents of the City <br />of Lakewood, the Council hereby extends to Larry <br />Slavik, his Division and the Administration its <br />commendation and encouragement in continuing <br /> fine-tuning the program. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of <br />the resolution to Larry Slavik, Operations Manager, <br />Division of Refuse and Recycling, 12650 Detroit Avenue, <br />Lakewood, OH 44107 and that a copy of this resolution <br />be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />'CLERK <br /> <br /> MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
