RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7034-95 BY: Boscia, Flannery, George <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION declaring April 10 through April 16, 1995, National Community <br />Development Week and recognizing the Community Development Block Grant program and the <br />importance it serves to our community. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this year marks the 21 st Anniversary of the Community Development Block <br />Grant (CDBG) program. The City of Lakewood is a participant in the CDBG entitlement progran~ <br />which funds a myriad of social service, housing, neighborhood revitalization, and infrastructure <br />improvement activities in this community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in this City, twenty-one years of CDBG funding has developed a strong <br />working network of relationships between the federal and local government, residents of targeted <br />neighborhoods, community efforts, and non-profit agencies and organizations which provide <br />services and help make possible our commitment to those neighborhoods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood, Ohio has clearly demonstrated the capacity to administer and <br />customize the CDBG program to identify and resolve local concerns; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Community Development Block Grant program has had a significant <br />impact on our local economy through job creation and retention, physical redevelopment and <br />improved local tax bases; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, thousands of Lakewood citizens have benefited from participation in <br />~Community Development Block Grant funded programs; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby declare the week of April 10 through <br />April 16, 1995, to be National Community Development Week in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the City of Lakewood hereby petitions the U.S. Congress and <br />Administration to recognize the outstanding work being done locally 'and nationally by the <br />Community Development Block Grant program and its vital importance to the community. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Congressman Martin Hoke, 21270 Lorain Road, <br />Fairview Park, Ohio 44126; U.S. Senator John Glenn, 1240 East 9th Street, Suite 2957, CleVeland, <br />Ohio 44199; U.S. Senator Mike DeWine, 200 North High Street, Room 405, Columbus, Ohio <br />43215; and John E. Riordan, Director, Community Planning and Development Division, Columbus <br />Office, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 200 North High Street, Columbus, <br />Ohio 43215-2499; and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: 5Z'//~//~'- <br /> / / <br /> <br />Approved:~-~ ~/? ?J~ <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
