RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7041-95 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Flannery, George, Gibbons, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Lakewood High School 1995 <br />graduating senior Jennifer Marie Watson on achieving the status <br />of National Merit Scholarship Finalist. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation of <br />Evanston, Illinois, sponsors the extremely rigorous and limited <br />award annual Merit Scholarship competition; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, from more than one million students who <br />entered the 1995 Merit Program, only about 15,000 were named <br />semifinalists designated on a state representational basis, in <br />proportion to each state's total of high school graduating <br />seniors and all five semi-finalists from LHS advanced to <br />Finalists status; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Jennifer Watson is one of five Finalists from~ <br />Lakewood High School out of 14,000 distinguished National <br />Finalists from more than one million students who took the 1993 <br />PSAT/NMSQT and recorded to present their academic, biographical, <br />and extracurricular achievements and goals; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, at Lakewood High School Jennifer Watson is <br />Vice President of the French Club, Co-captain of the Cross <br />Country team and m~mher of the track team, a member of National <br />Honors Society, Science Olympiad, Watter Science Seminar and 'was <br />involved in the Sunday Funday cakewalk. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Jennifer Marie Watson will attend Case <br />Western Reserve University on a full tuition, four-year Smith <br />Truehaft scholarship to study electrical engineering;, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that the scholastic <br />achievements of Jennifer Marie Watson be given public cognizance <br />and recognition. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> 1. That on behalf of the residents of the City of <br />Lakewood, the Council and the MaYOr hereby extend to Jennifer <br />Marie Watson their heartiest congratulations and commendation on <br />achieving the status of National Merit Scholarship Finalist. <br /> <br /> 2.
