RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7044-95 BY: Boscia, Flannery, George, Gibbons, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A Resolution opposing S.B. 68 & H.B. 121 pending before the Ohio <br />General Assembly that seekto amend current law allowing carrying a concealed <br /> <br />weapon. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, S.B. 68 & H.B. 121 pending before the Ohio General <br />Assembly seek to amend Section 2923.12 to allow a pdvate citizen to carry a <br />concealed weapon, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a survey of Ohio police chiefs shows overwhelming <br />opposition to the recent proposals easing the pre-requisites for carrying a <br />concealed weapon, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, issues brought to light in the survey include concern <br />about more accidents, more suicides, and more violence committed by the so- <br />called average citizen who uses the gun in a fit of anger, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, legislative Counsel for the Ohio Association of Chiefs of <br />Police, John Giichdst and Lakewood's Police Chief Matthew Biscotti, President of <br />the Cuyahoga County Chiefs' of Police Association have voiced their opposition, to <br />this recent campaign relaxing our present gun laws; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CiTY Of LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council hereby opposes legislation amending <br />Section 2923.12 of the ORC that relaxes present gun laws allowing the carrying of <br />a concealed weapon. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
