RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7052-95 <br /> <br />BY: Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION supporting the grant application by the Divi- <br />sion of Police to the Ohio Attorney General's office for funding <br />for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, and <br />commending the Division of Police for its continued efforts to <br />educate young people of the City as to the hazards of alcohol and <br />drugs. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Division of Police [Police] has operated the <br />Drug Abuse Resistance Education [D.A.R.E.] program since 1990; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D.A.R.E. pro- <br />grams in all elementary and middle schools within the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on <br />the young people of the City through education as to the hazards <br />of alcohol and drugs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and gradu- <br />ating from the D.A.R.E. program increases annually;' and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding to support the continued operation of the <br />D.A.R.E. program is available from the Ohio Attorney General's <br />office; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the <br />grant application by the Division of Police to the Ohio Attorney <br />General's office for the funding for the city's Drug Abuse Re- <br />sistance Education program. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the <br />Division of Police for its continued efforts in educating young <br />people of the City as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of <br />this Resolution to Matthew Biscotti, Chief, Division of Police, <br />12650 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a copy of this <br />Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Appr°ved:~6~ ~/ /~-"~ <br /> <br /> <br />
