RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7056-95 BY: George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, <br /> Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION approving a collective bargaining agreement with Ohio Council 8 <br />and Local 1043 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL- <br />CIO, establishing conditions of employment, working conditions and various benefits for <br />certain employees of the Department of Public Works of the City of Lakewood, and <br />authorizing the Mayor to sign said agreement on behalf of the City. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a prior collective bargaining agreement entered into between the City of <br />Lakewood and Ohio Council 8 and Local 1043 of the American Federation of State, County <br />and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO, terminated on December 31, 1994, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, discussions and negotiations have been continued subsequently on <br />behalf of the City with representatives of Local Union 1043 and Ohio Council 8 with respect to <br />conditions of employment, working conditions and various benefits for certain employees of <br />the Department of Public Works of the City of Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the tentative agreement reached between the negotiators for the City and <br />the Union was rejected by the Union membership and the matter was referred to a fact-finder <br />pursuant to the Ohio Collective Bargaining Act, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the fact-finder's recommendations have been received by the City and <br />the Union and will become the terms of the labor agreement between the City and Local <br />Union 1043 for the next three (3) years unless rejected by the City or the Union membership, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines that it is in the best interest of the City to accept <br />and approve the fact-finders rePort and proposed agreement, and authorize the Mayor to sign <br />same on behalf of the City of Lakewood; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the collective bargaining agreement with Ohio Council 8 and Local <br />1043 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO, <br />effective for the period of January 1, 1995, through December 31, 1997, an original copy of <br />which is on file in the Office of the Mayor of the City of Lakewood and is made a part hereof <br />as though written fully herein, is hereby adopted, ratified and approved and the Mayor is <br />hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City of Lakewood to affix his <br />signature thereto. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of <br />the Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any 'of its committees that <br />resulted in such formal action were in meetings open tothe public in compliance with all legal <br />requirements. <br /> <br /> /)e-/-,'~ PRESIDENT <br /> <br />APPROVED: ~-- / ?~ <br /> <br />CLERK ...---~---~ <br /> <br /> <br />
