Coyle on his <br />selection as one of the recipients of the 5th Annual Greater Cleveland Public Works <br />Performance Awards. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Coyle has been the Director of Public Works for the City <br /> of Lakewood since 1992 and during that time has demonstrated his abilities and <br /> expertise; and <br /> <br />!-,% ~'~,d.,~.~<:.7~:~*:' ~.?!~%-~' i ',~ -~,~, , .',~ ' , ..... .... <br /> · ~: .' .~* .' WI-IEREAS, Mr. Coyle established Total Quality principles in the Public <br /> .i: .i. !~ !~:)' ._works .Department in 11993 and fully'implemented them in 1994, building_ a team <br /> . attitude in the Department, Providing training and leadership, management and <br /> ~?:.' .,:,::'~. 7' :.::,~:~?:~ Con~imuous ~provemer~ and ,~ ,:~, i;:, ~;! :. :~ :~i::.,.: - -. ::.: i:,,'i-~:::: ~.: ...... <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he has coordinated effectively with AFSCME Local 1043 and <br />instituted monthly labor management meetings to insure consistent contract <br />interpretation and labor management cooperation resulting in improved work relations <br />and substantially reducing grievances; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Coyle with careful and effective management, has <br />worked with the refuse division to redesign the City's refuse collection and negotiated a <br />new contract with the City of Cleveland reducing tipping fees by 18%, resulting in <br />direct savings of $575,000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Coyle has analyzed the City of Lakewood's Public Works <br />needs and established long-range plans for its water distribution system, sewer system, <br />streets infrastructure and city-wide reforestration and thus has established the <br />direction the City will take in the next five years in these areas; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby extend to David I. <br />Coyle its commendation, and that of all of the citizens of the Lakewood community, on <br />his receipt of the prestigious Greater Cleveland Public Works Performance Award in <br />Executive Management for 1995. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to David J. Coyle, Lakewood <br />Public Works Department, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the <br />minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />CLERK <br /> <br /> <br />
