<br /> A RESOLUTION proclaiming October 3, 1995 as Cleveland
<br />Indians Day in Lakewood in celebration of the beginning of the American
<br />League Division Series.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Indians of Cleveland, baseball's finest team
<br />whose name honors the heritage of our Native Americans has recently been
<br />honored as Central Division Champs, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Cleveland Nine truly reflects the culture of our
<br />great Lakewood city, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the acrobatic grace of Vizquel and Baerga will
<br />forever dance in our memories, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the power of Belle and Ramlrez has eclipsed even the
<br />might of Colavito a_nd Rosen, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Winfield, Martinez and Murray make Lakewoodites
<br />in their late thirties and forties feel young again, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the speed of Lofton, the saves, of Mesa, and the socks
<br />of Thorne prove that in Lakewood and in baseball, it's ok to be art individual,
<br />and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Hill, Hershiset, Nagy, Clark, Ogea, Assenmacher,
<br />Kirby, Espinoza, Embree, Tavarez, Alomar, Sorrento, Perm, Poole, Perry and
<br />Plunk can pitch and catch and bat with the best in America, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that we celebrate this
<br />benediction of talent that has brought us all together rooting for the home team
<br />once again; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF
<br />
<br />OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby proclaim October
<br />3,1995 as Cleveland Indians Day to honor this great baseball team.
<br />
<br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized
<br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Cleveland
<br />Indians Baseball Team and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the
<br />minutes of this meeting.
