RESOLUTION NO. 7099-95 BY: Boscia, Flannery, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br />-i <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION extending congratulations to Council President Jo Ann <br />Boscia on being selected by the National League of Cities as President of its constituency <br />grouP, Women in Municipal Government. · <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Council President Boscia has been active as a leader in the <br />National League of Ckies for several years serving as 1995 Vice Chair of their <br />Community and Economic Development's Steering Committee, 1994 Program Chair of <br />the Program Committee for the Congress of Cities, and as a member of the Women in <br />Municipal Government's Board of Directors and 1992 Communications Officer, 1993 <br />Vice President, and 1994 First Vice President; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National League of Cities at their December, 1995 <br />Congress of Cities in Phoenix, Ai'izona elected Council President Jo Ann Bosda to the <br />position of President of' women in Municipal Government; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, over the last two decades Women in Municipal Government <br />has raised national awareness levels about issues of concern to women, encouraged <br />women to seek public office in their communities and has a long tradition ef forging a <br />prominent role for women in the development of the National League of Cities' policy <br />development arena; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as President of Women in Municipal Government at the <br />National League of Cities, she will preside over the business of this group that serves as a <br />national forum for women's issues at both local and national levels; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is fitting that Council President Boscia's election to <br />President of the National League of Cities' Women in Municipal Government be given <br />public cognizance and recognition for the great honor and prestige it brings to this Council <br />and the City of Lakewood; now therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council, on behalf of all Lakewood citizens, <br />congratulates and honors Council President Jo Ann Boscia on her election by the Natiohal <br />League of Cities to President of Women in Municipal Government for 1996 and wishes <br />her a successful term of office. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
