RESOLUTION NO. 7141-96 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, George, Roth, Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION commending Kathryn Vine on her selection by The Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games as "Community Hero Torchbearer for the i996 Olympic Torch Relay" for the City of Lakewood. WHEREAS, for eighty-four days, beginning April 27th, the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay will bring the Olympic Flame to thousands of communities across America; and WHEREAS, Kathryn Vine has been selected by a panel of community leaders from her region as one of 5,500 individuals who will represent the best of their community by carrying the Olympic Flame; and WHEREAS, as a Torchbearer, Kathryn Vine highlights the representation of the heritage and achievements of the City of Lakewood; and WHEREAS, her outstanding volunteer work, her role as a community leader, role model and mentor and her acts of generosity and kindness are all attributes in the spirit of volunteerism and humanitarianism that make America unique and are recognized hereby, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Council and the Mayor commend Kathryn Vine in honor of the outstanding contributions she has made to others in her community. Section 2. That Council and the Mayor, on behalf of the entire Lakewood community, extend to Kathryn Vine, their heartfelt support of the selection of Kathryn Vine as one of 5,500 Community Heroes who will comprise the majority of the 10,000 torchbearers who will help transport the Olympic Flame across the United States. Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified, formal copy of this Resolution to Kathryn Vine, 17809 Narragansett Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio and that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
