RESOLUTION NO. 7].88-96 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, <br />George, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION commending Dr. Stephen R. Sroka on his induction into <br />the National Teachers Hall of Fame; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS. Dr. Sroka, a Lakewood resident, is a teacher for the <br />Cleveland Public Schools, an Adjunct Associate Professor of Health Education at <br />Cleveland State University, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor. School of Medicine, <br />Center for Adolescent Health, Case Western Reserve University; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. Sroka is a consultant to departments of health and <br />departments of education throughout the country and world and has served as a <br />consultant to the Centers for Disease Control and the Indian Health Service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he has been the recipient of many awards including the 1993 <br />Outstanding School Health Education Award, 1994 Walt Disney Outstanding Health <br />Teacher of the Year and in 1996, he was inducted into the National Teachers Hall of <br />Fame: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. Sroka's spidted presentations have resulted in guest <br />appearances on many TV programs, including the Oprah Winfrey Show and the <br />Donahue Show as well as coverage in many newspapers including USA Today; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, his message is that education is the most effective weapon <br />against AIDS, sex, drugs and violence; and teachers, ~3arents. principals, physicians, <br />nurses, religious eaders and even students can and should be educators; now, <br />therefore. <br /> <br />BE It RESOLVED BY THE CITY Of LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />wq Section 1. That this MayOr and Council extend to Dr. Stephen R. Sroka <br />their congratulations and that of all of the citizens of Lakewood on his induction into the <br />1996 National Teachers Hall of Fame and best wishes for continued success. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Stephen R.
