RESOLUTION NO. 7199-96 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, George, Roth, Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION urghig the NOACA Board to refuse to approve the wide, ting of Interstate 90. WHEREAS, the Widening of Interstate 90 would contribute to out- migration throughout all of the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan area, and WHEREAS, urban sprawl moves population outward, but does not contribute to the higher productivity of a region, and, in fact, makes infrastructure costs per resident more expensive, and WHEREAS, communities and neighborhoods are not disposable commodities to be used up and abandoned, and WHEREAS, reinvesling in existing communities is a far more efficient use of public and private funds, and WHEREAS, Lakewood, a successful timer ring suburb with quality, affordable housing; excellent city services and schools; and an active and involved population, is at risk when out-migration becomes both more profitable and convenient, OHIO: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE crfY OF LAI<Z3WOOD, STATE OF Section 1. That the NOACA board be urged to reject proposals to widen Interstate 90 from two lanes to three In western Cuyahoga and eastern Lorain Comities. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby author/zed and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Howard R.
