RESOLUTION NO. 7201-96 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, <br /> George, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION commending David J. Coyle for his four and one-half <br />years of service to the City of Lakewood as Director of Public Works. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, David J. Coyle has served as the City of Lakewood's <br />Director of Public Work since June 23, 1992, and will continue in public <br />service as Director of District 12 of the Ohio Department of Transportation <br />beginning December 3, 1996, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dave Coyle introduced Total Quality Management to the <br />Department of Public Works and encouraged employees to take an active interest <br />in improving the services offered by the Department of Public Works, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he used his teaching ability to train Public Works <br />supervisors in budget preparation and other management skills, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he initiated employee recognition in the Department of <br />Public Works through the Employee of the Month program, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he participated in negotiations with AFSCME Local Union <br />1043 and dealt fairly with grievances, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, he restored trust in the Department of Public Works, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he promoted total street restoration, installation of new <br />watermains and sewers, increased tree planting, continued customer service at <br />a high level, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he serves various <br />organizations as a board member, and <br /> <br />community and professional <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he provided the glue to hold together the <br />Administration's softball team with the skill of Dick Allen; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor hereby extend to David J. <br />Coyle their appreciation and commendation and that of all the citizens of this <br />community for his distingnished service to the City of Lakewood and further <br />wish him continued years of success, professional growth, good health, <br />happiness and prosperity in the future. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to David J. Coyle <br />and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> President <br /> <br /> <br />
