RESOLUTION NO. 7211-97 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, <br />George, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Director of the <br />Department of Human Services, on behalf of the City, to accept and expend grant <br />funds awarded by the Family and Children First Council Wellness Block Grant for <br />the purpose of an adolescent wellness project entitled "Just Friends". <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Family and Children First Council Wellness Block Grant <br />initiated a request for proposal (RFP) for teenage prevention activities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all activities proposed for funding should be designed to <br />provide skills, knowledge, and/or resources to facilitate the development of systems <br />or environmental supports which promote and encourage individual behavior <br />change; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, projects should focus on prevention, utilizing a continuum <br />of community-based, family-focused, supportive, informational, educational and <br />health activities designed to improve the well being of families and children and to <br />avoid negative results; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services, Division of Youth, <br />developed the "Just Friends" Project which meets the requirements and has been <br />awarded a grant to implement the project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said grant funds will be used to fully implement the "Just <br /> Friends" project, resulting in no additional expenditure of City funds; now, <br />. therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Director of the Department of Human Services, on <br />behalf of the City, be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an <br />agreement with the Ohio Family and Children First Council to receive and administer <br />grant funds for the purpose of implementing the "Just Friends" Project. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were adopted in <br />an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberation of the Council and of <br />any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to <br />the public and in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />Adopted: ~/~~// <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
