RESOLUTION NO. 7215-97 George, Roth, Seelie, A RESOLUTION requesting that the Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation (O.D.O.T.) establish a 25 mph (mile per hour) restriction on Franklin Boulevard and Hilliard Road within the municipal boundaries of the city of Lakewood. WHEREAS, Ohio is a home rule state, the appropriate traffic studies must be conducted by local officials within incorporated communities; and WHEREAS, O.D.O.T. will use these studies to determine the safe and reasonable speed limit on our roads; and BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, Smith WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works and the Traffic Engineer for the city of Lakewood concluded that a 25 mph posted speed limit will further protect the safety and welfare of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists within the community; and WHEREAS, this Council has determined, based on the appropriate studies and the recommendation of city officials, that the current statutory vehicular speed limit established by Ohio Revised Code 4511.21 is greater than that considered reasonable and safe on the section of road described above; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby request that the Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation establish a 25 mph restriction on Franklin Boulevard and Hilliard Road within the municipal boundaries of the city of Lakewood. Section 2. That when this Council is advised that the Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation has determined and declared a reasonable and safe speed limit on the section of road described in Section 1 hereof, standard signs, properly posted and giving notice thereof wilt be erected. Section 3.
