Ri;~SOLUTiON NO. 7217-97 BY: <br /> <br />Boscia, Corrigan, Ftannery, <br />George, Roth, Seelie, Snith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to honor anti recognize Grace Amelia Gair on the <br />0ecasi0h. of her 100th birthday on Saturday, March 29, 1997. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Grace Amelia Gair was born on March 29, 1897 and <br />has been a resident of our communi ,ty for many years, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, she has raised two daughters, Phyllis Huntington and <br />Florence Grygier, has seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two <br />great, great grandctfildren; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mrs. Gair worked at National Carbon during World <br />Ward II and at Land Title until her mandatory retirement on her 70th birthday <br />and then for two and a half additional years at Midland Title, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during a long and productive lifetime, she has <br />demonstrated in countless ways her dedication to the welfare of others and has <br />earned the respect and affection of people from all walks of life and all ages, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, she has Lived to see women gain the right to vote; the <br />devastation of two world wars alOng with the Korean and Vier Nam Wars, the <br />economic depression of the 1930's; and advances in technology that allow people <br />separated by oceans to visit with each other within hours and to communicate <br />with each other within seconds; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that on the occasion of her 100th <br />birthday, Grace Amelia Gair be given public cognizance and recognition; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood extends to <br />Grace Amelia Gait its recognition and congratulations and that of all of the <br />citizens of this community on the celebration of her 100th birthday and further <br />that this Council wishes her continued years of health, happiness and prosperity. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. <br />Grace Amelia Gair, 1279 Beach Avenue, Lakewood, OH 44107, and that a copy <br />of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: lqq <br /> PRESIDENT <br /> <br /> MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
