RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />72~_,$-97 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION pledging support and encouragement to the City of <br />Cleveland concerning the $100 million expansion of Continental Airlines at Cleveland <br />Hopkins Airport. <br /> <br />2000, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Continental expansion could add 110 flights by the year <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, at least 500 permanent jobs will be created by this expansion, <br />in addition to many high paying construction jobs that will be added during the <br />construction phase of the new concourse, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, many of these jobs will go to Lakewood residents, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, numerous Lakewood residents will be among those hired as <br />Continental ground and in-flight personnel, ticket agents, baggage handlers and pilots <br />while others will be among those construction workers who will build the new concourse, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, job creation is an integral part of a thriving community and it <br />is only fitting and proper that efforts made along these lines be given public cognizance <br />and recognition, now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. The Council and Mayor of the City of Lakewood hereby pledge <br />our support and encouragement to the City of Cleveland for the expansion of Continental <br />Airlines at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
