RESOLUTION: 7227-97 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, <br /> George, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A Resolution to honor Lakewood's H20 (Help to Others), youth volunteer <br />organization on receiving two recent awards. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the H20 Program originated in 1993 through the efforts of <br />youth activities specialist Ceil Dorsch and Mary Hall, Division of Youth Director, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the program was recently awarded Best Practices by the State <br />Department Board of Education, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, H20 received from Volunteer Ohio an outstanding services <br />award, and for its summer camp program <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, H20 was also recobmized by the Thousand Points of Lights in <br />Washington D.C., and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the H20 program has operated summer volunteer camps for <br />middle school students, has sent student volunteers to help out with service organizations <br />and neighborhood olean-ups, and has launched its "Home Alone" project, workshops in <br />the grade schools to help children cope with being home alone after school, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is only fitting that honor and commendation be given to this <br />cherished Lakewood Program; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEwooD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor hereby extend commendation and <br />thanks for the enriching the communky and <br /> <br /> Section 2.
