NO. 7248-97 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannerv, George, Roth, Seelie, Smith A P~ESOLLFFION commending Dorothy McLaughlin for her more than 25 years of public service in the C/tv of Lakewood. WHEREAS, Dorothv McLaughlin started working full-time Mav 8, 1972, at City Halt as a clerk in the ~uilding Department for Walter Geist, and WHERE.aS, because of her expertise in administrative work and her conscientious approach to every task assigned to her, Dorothv McLaughlin was promoted time and time again, ascending from Clerk .(Classes' C through A), to Clerk Stenographer, to Secretary II, and WHERE.aS, Mrs. McLaughlin's reputation for skill and innovation was recognized by Mayor Anthony J'. Sinagra in 1.o90, where she rose to the position of Secretary. to the Mayor, serving out his term, and WHEREAS, Mayor David R. Harbarger learned of Mrs. McLaughlin's value to the City during the transition of his Administration and upheld her position as Secretary to the Mayor for the remainder of his term, and WHEREAS, Mrs. McLaughlin's capabilities and character transcended political bias and were instantly acknowledged by Mayor Madeline A. Cain who chose Mrs. McLaughlin to serve as her Secretary until the day of Doroth,,'s retirement on June 27, 1997, and WHEREAS, throughout her entire career with the City of Lakewood Dorothy showed strength, dignity and even humor when faced with challenges at work and at home and her legac,v continues to inspire those who admire and love her, and WHERE.as, it is only fitting and proper that Dorothy McLaughlin's remarkable working career acknowledged bv building comrmssioners and co- workers, mayors and managers, familv and friends be given public cognizance and recognition; now, therefore, BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mavor, herebv extend to Dorothy McLaughlin, its appreciation and that of all of the citizens of this community for h~r more than 25 years of dedicated public service to the City of Lakewood an~t further wish her continued years of health, happiness and prosperity in her retirement knowing she will see many plays, read several books and invit~ manv friends over for plenty of wings. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is herebv authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Dorothv'McLaughlin and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this n~eeting.
