NO. <br /> <br />7248-97 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannerv, <br /> George, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A P~ESOLLFFION commending Dorothy McLaughlin for her more <br />than 25 years of public service in the C/tv of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dorothv McLaughlin started working full-time Mav 8, <br />1972, at City Halt as a clerk in the ~uilding Department for Walter Geist, and <br /> <br /> WHERE.aS, because of her expertise in administrative work and her <br />conscientious approach to every task assigned to her, Dorothv McLaughlin was <br />promoted time and time again, ascending from Clerk .(Classes' C through A), to <br />Clerk Stenographer, to Secretary II, and <br /> <br /> WHERE.aS, Mrs. McLaughlin's reputation for skill and innovation <br />was recognized by Mayor Anthony J'. Sinagra in 1.o90, where she rose to the position <br />of Secretary. to the Mayor, serving out his term, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor David R. Harbarger learned of Mrs. McLaughlin's <br />value to the City during the transition of his Administration and upheld her <br />position as Secretary to the Mayor for the remainder of his term, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mrs. McLaughlin's capabilities and character transcended <br />political bias and were instantly acknowledged by Mayor Madeline A. Cain who <br />chose Mrs. McLaughlin to serve as her Secretary until the day of Doroth,,'s <br />retirement on June 27, 1997, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, throughout her entire career with the City of Lakewood <br />Dorothy showed strength, dignity and even humor when faced with challenges at <br />work and at home and her legac,v continues to inspire those who admire and love <br />her, and <br /> <br /> WHERE.as, it is only fitting and proper that Dorothy McLaughlin's <br />remarkable working career acknowledged bv building comrmssioners and co- <br />workers, mayors and managers, familv and friends be given public cognizance and <br />recognition; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mavor, herebv extend to Dorothy <br />McLaughlin, its appreciation and that of all of the citizens of this community for h~r <br />more than 25 years of dedicated public service to the City of Lakewood an~t further <br />wish her continued years of health, happiness and prosperity in her retirement <br />knowing she will see many plays, read several books and invit~ manv friends over <br />for plenty of wings. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is herebv authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Dorothv'McLaughlin and <br />that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this n~eeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br /> <br />
