RESOLUTION NO. 7256-97 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, <br /> George, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Director of the <br />Department of Human Services, on behalf of the City, to accept and expend <br />grant funds awarded by the Family and Children First Council Wellness Block <br />Grant for the purpose of continuing the adolescent wellness project entitled <br />"Just Friends". <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Family and Children First Council Wellness Block <br />Grant initiated a request for proposal (RFP) for teenage prevention activities; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all activities proposed for funding should be <br />designed to provide skills, knowledge, and/or resources to facilitate the <br />development of systems or environmental supports which promote and <br />encourage individual behavior change; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, projects should focus on prevention, utilizing a <br />continuum of community-based, family-focused, supportive, informational, <br />educational and health activities designed to improve the well being of <br />families and children and to avoid negative results; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services, Division of <br />Youth, developed the "Just Friends" Project which met the requirements and <br />has been awarded grant funds to continue the project for another year; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said grant funds will be used to fully continue the <br />"Just Friends" project, resulting n no additional expenditure of City funds; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Director of the Department of Human <br />Services, on behalf of the City, be and is hereby authorized and directed to <br />enter into an agreement with the Ohio Family and Children First Council to <br />receive and administer grant funds for the purpose of continuing the "Just <br />Friends" Project. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of <br />this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were <br />adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberation of <br />the Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action <br />were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with all legal <br />requirements. <br /> <br />Adopted: ~/~;/~,~ <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
