RESOLUTION NO. 7296--98 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to congratulate coach Gerry Smpiansky and the freshman <br />Rangers of the 1997-98 Lakewood High School Girls Basketball Team for'posting an <br />unblemished record of 20-0. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a perfect season for the freshman squad offers hope of a bright future <br />for the girls basketball program at Lakewood High School, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an undefeated season is a very difficult accomplishment, forcing a <br />team to work through injuries, adversity and junior varsity call-ups, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this team proved to be the best in the area, defeating perennial <br />powers Magnificat, 34-29, Valley Forge, 24-21, and completing the season with a 51-29 <br />victory before the home crowd against Cleveland Heights, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, beyond a 20-0 record, this team is recognized for its exceptional <br />talent, teamwork, sportsmanship, committed student-athletes, and the development of its <br />potential through hard work and good coaching, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That on behalf of the residents of the City of Lakewood, the <br />Co~mcil and the Mayor hereby extend to coach Gerry Stupiansky and the freshman <br />Rangers of the 1997-98 Lakewood High School Girls Basketball Team their heartiest <br />congratulations for a perfect 20-0 record. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Geny Stupiansky, do Lakewood High <br />School, 14100 Franklin Boulevard, Lakewood, Ohio, 44107 and that a copy of this <br />Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
