RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7589~99 <br /> <br />Bky: Corrigan, FitzGerald, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell <br /> <br />George, <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION requesting the Ohio General Assembly permit public <br />aggregation or community choice as part of the electric utility deregulation plan. <br /> <br /> WHEREAs, affordably priced electric service is essential to the health, <br />safety, and economic well-being of all Ohioans, including residents of the City of <br />Lakewood; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, northern Ohio electric consumers currently pay the highest <br />rates for eiectricity in the state, presenting a significant economic disadvantage to tlie <br />region's residential and business customers; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ohio General Assembly is considering proposals to bring <br />customer choice in the form of pub,!ic aggregation to the electric utility industry as part <br />of S.B. 3 and H.B. 5, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, if small consumers are going to benefit from deregulation, <br />they must aggregate, that is form larger purchasing groups to shop for power supply; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CiTY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council supports public aggregation and community <br />choice wh.;'e ocat governments can purchase a large block of power supply for <br />residential ~:-~C .::ommercial consumers as part of the electric utility deregulation <br />legislation bein9 considered by the General Assembly; <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward certified copi.~s of this resolution to Governor Bob Taft, Senate <br />President Richard Finan, House Speak, a-Jo Ann Davidson, Representative Bryan' <br />Flannery, State Senator Dan Brady and U.S. Congressman Dennis J.
