RESOLUTION NO 7428-99 BY: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, Roth, <br /> Seelie, Skindell <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Lakewood Public Library for being ranked as one <br />of best libraries in the United States. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Hennen's American Public Library Rating Index (HAPLR Index), <br />which appeared in the September 1999 issue of,dmerican Libraries, ranked Lakewood <br />Public Library fourth in the United States for libraries serving populations 50,000 to <br />99,999; and <br /> <br /> WI-IEKEAS, HAPLR Index is tabulated on the basis of 15 factors using statistical <br />data such as overall revenue, funding per capita, visits per capita, cost per circulation, <br />volumes per capita, periodicals and reference; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ranking validates and rewards the hard work of the Lakewood <br />Library Board, Director Kenneth Warren, and the librarians and staff who ensure that <br />Lakewood Public Library remains c~ntrat to the quality of life in our community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by continuing a well-established tradition of excellence, Lakewood <br />Public Library. has again brought honor and distinction to the City of Lakewood; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ranking is a source of great civic pride, proving that Lakewood <br />is a community of library users and supporters who value education and learning as a <br />lifelong process; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKE;wOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section t. That this Coun~iI and Mayor hereby commend Lakewood Public <br />Library as being one of the best libraries in the United States, as Hennen's American <br />Public Library Rating Index placed Lakewood Public Library fourth in nation for <br />libraries serving populations 50,00~ to 99,999. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Lakewood Public Library and <br />that a copy of this Resolution tm spread upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Presidem <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br /> <br />
