KESOLUTION N0.: 7465=00 <br /> <br />BY:corrigan, FitzGerald, George, Roth, <br /> Seelie, Skindell, Smith. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Mayor and/or the Acting Director of the <br />Department of Planning and Development, on behalf of the City of Lakewood, to enter into an agreement <br />with the Cleveland Restoration Society / Preservation Resource Center of Northeastern OMo ("CRS') and <br />to accept and expend grant funds awarded for the purpose of the Lakewood Commercial and Industrial <br />Zone Survey. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood City Council approved a proposal from the Lakewood Heritage <br />Advisory Board to conduct the Lakewood Commercial and Industrial Zone Survey ("the Surcey") on June <br />21, 1999; and <br /> <br /> 'WHEREAS, the City applied for and was awarded a technical assistance grant from the <br />CRS for the purposes of conducting the Survey; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of the Survey is to inventory and document the age and design <br />characteristics of existing buildings located in commercial and industrial zoning districts throughout <br />Lakewood and to identify the relative priority for preservation purposes of each building surveyed fifty <br />years of age or older based on their architectural and historic qualities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the finished product available through the Survey, a historic database, will <br />provide valuable information to be used by City officials, property owners and developers and will ensure <br />that pertinent information is available early in the decision-making process when considering a <br />development project affecting existing buildings with architectural or historic merit; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Survey will improve the City's ability to be proactive in dealing with <br />projects involving preservation issues; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said grant funds will cover partial out-of-pocket expenses related to the <br />Survey and monies appropriated in the Department Planning and Development's Operating Supplies <br />budget will fund the City's required match to this grant; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ail labor to conduct the Survey and prepare the final report is to be provided <br />at no cost on a voluntary basis by members of the Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board, with in-kind staff <br />support.from the DePartment of Planning and Development; now therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor and/or the Acting Director of the Department of Planning <br />and Development, on behalf of the City, be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an <br />agreement with the CRS to receive and administer grant funds for the purpose of implementing the <br />Lakewood Commercial and Industrial Zone Survey. <br /> <br /> Seetion2.
