<br /> A RESOLUTION to honor the Lakewood's St. Edward High School 1999-2000
<br />Wrestling Team as the undisputed national champion and winner of the Division I state title.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood St. Edward Eagle Wrestling Team has complied an
<br />unparalleled mark of accomplishment by winnh~g a record I0th national title and 16th state
<br />wrestling title, and
<br />
<br /> VV~IEREAS, it has become connnon to refer to Lakewood's St. Edward High School as
<br />the HomeofChamp~ons m part due to a successful wresthng program wtfich has qualified a
<br />record number of champion wrestlers, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Coach Greg Urbas adopted the motto" agite recte" which translates from
<br />Latin to read "do the right thing" to inspire this years team in ali matters: "agile recte in the
<br />classroom, agite recte on the mat, agite recte in your personal life", and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, these fine student athletes who wrestled in the starting line-up for the 1999-
<br />2000 have posted a 3 2 GPA (grade point ~verage) - a teslmnenl that each student athlete has
<br />adopted the "agile recte" creed
<br />
<br /> WHERAS, this teton scored 186.5 points at the state tournament, the third highest total in
<br />tournament history, due to the following individuals accomplishments: Ryan Benin, John
<br />Bialowas, Mike Glasenapp, Greg Hallhan, Mark Jayne, Mason Lenard, Nick Mann, B~en
<br />SchilenS, Zak Schweda, Jon~ Stasko, Chris 8ugalski, Tom Tohati, Ben Yee, Sean Zak, Paul
<br />Dunstan, Chris Icabu, Dan Wendolowski, Mark Moos, Chris Vondruska, Matt Koz and Ryan
<br />Lang

<br /> WHEREAS, St Edward High School proudly hails from the City of Lakewood, and is
<br />identified in forums both academic and athletic, be it national or statewide, as Lakewood's St
<br />Edward High Schools and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood's St. Edward High SchoOl has brought distinction and honor to
<br />this communily for its achievements in athletics, for outstanding academic reputation with
<br />national recogs~ lion by the U.S Department of Education as a "School of Excellence' and for
<br />remmmng true to the precepts of the Catholic faith as instructed by the Congregation of Holy
<br />Cross (C. S.C); now therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO
<br />
<br /> Section i. On behalf of the residents of Lakewood, the Mayor and this Council
<br />extend to the Lakewood's St, Edward High School Wrestling Team congratulations for its
<br />outstanding achievements during the 1999-2000 high school wrestling season.
<br />
<br /> ~ Section 2 T~at the Clerk of Council be, and is hereby authorized to forward a
<br />certified copy of this Resolution to the Lak~wood's St Edward High School Eagles Wrestling
<br />Team. c/o Coach Greg Urbas, St Edward High School, and that a copy of this resolution be
<br />spread upon the minutes of this meeting
