RESOLUTION NO.: 7 4 7 2 - 0 0 <br /> <br /> BY: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, <br />Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION COMMENDING COLIN DRUMMOND FOR HIS VOLUNTEER <br />WORK WITH THE LAKEWOOD SOCCER ASSOCIATION. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood's outdoor youth soccer program is coordinated through <br />the Lakewood Soccer Association, an independent, non-profit organization that supports and <br />promotes recreational soccer for over 1,000 Lakewood youths; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the youth soccer program is comprised of volunteer administrators and coaches <br />and includes an in-house section where the teams play against same age teams within the <br />association itself and a travel section which involves Lakewood Soccer Association teams playing <br />against sides from other communities; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Colin Drummond, immediate past president of the Lakewood Soccer <br />Association, has over many years dedicated time, energy and enthusiasm to ensure that hundreds of <br />young eornmunity soccer players from different socio-eeonomie backgrounds have an oppommity <br />to discover the game and hone their soccer interest; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the leadership of Colin Drummond, the Lakewood Soccer Association <br />developed guidebooks for the recreational program, computerized rosters and team organization, <br />initiated state-approved coaching development programs, developed a strategic plan for growth, <br />restructured the games for younger-age players and obtained professional coaching assistance; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the leadership of Colin Drummond, the Lakewood Soccer Association <br />has experienced significant growth over the years and has contributed to the development of <br />Lakewood's youth by involving them in recreational soccer. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of the City of Lakewood, <br />commends Colin Drummond for the significant civic contributions he has made to the Lakewood <br />community through his volunteer work with the Lakewood Soccer Association. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy of this resolution to Colin Drummond and that a copy of this resolution be spread <br />upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
