RESOLUTION: 7572-0]. BY: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith. A RESOLUTION to commend the Kids Cove Volunteer Committee for their efforts in creating the Kids Cove Playground in Lakewood Park. WHEREAS, in February 2000, The Kids Cove Volunteer Committee recognized a need in the community, and without hesitation united to raise over $100,000 to build a new, safe, creative play area for our community's children, based on community input and created by community effort; and WHEREAS, the Kids Cove Volunteer Committee energized, engaged and empowered the citizens of Lakewood in a spirit of neighborliness and cooperatiOn, building not just a playground, but a community; and WHEREAS, the Kids Cove Volunteer Committee stands as a great example of the power and possibility created when people set a common vision for the future, discover and use existing and new resources for community development and join together for a common goal; and WHEREAS, on July 4, 2001 Kids Cove opened as a wonderful new playground at Lakewood Park where children of all ages and abilities can play together in a safe, friendly and accessible environment. WHEREAS, it is tiffing and proper that the services rendered by the Kids Cove Volunteer Committee be given public cognizance and recognition, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby extend to the Kids Cove Volunteer Committee its appreciation and that of all of the citizens of this community for their dedicated service to the Lakewood 'Community. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby author's, ed and directed to forward a certitied copy of this Resolution to the Kids Cove Volunteer Committee and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the meeting.
