WHEREAS, the state of New York and North Carolina have instituted legislation and/or <br />regulations directed curbing these practices; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure for the immediate <br />preservation of public peace, property, health or safety; now, therefore: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council supports the call of the American Association of Retired <br />Persons (AARP) and Ohio Coalition for Responsible Lending. for legislation protecting <br />homeowners from predatory lending practices; <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward certified copies of this resolution to the offices of Governor Bob Taft, Senate President <br />Richard Finan, Sentate Minority Leader Leigh Herington, Senator Dan Brady, Speaker of the <br />House Larry Householder, House Minority Leader Jack Ford and Representatives Bryan <br />Flannery, Dale Miller and Sally Conway Kilbane and that a copy of this resolution be spread <br />upon the minutes of this meeting <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberation of Council. and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal <br />action were in meetings open to the public in compliance. with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> President <br /> <br /> <br />
