RESOLUTION: 7605-01 BY: Corrigan, FitzGerald, <br /> George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell, <br /> Smlth. <br /> A RESOLU1/ON to honor ~4iche~e S~ of the Lakewood High School G~]s' Ckoss <br />County Team for h~r out~mnding p~rformance during fi~e 2001 Cross County Season. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Miehelle Sikes has enhanced the statewide reputation of the LHS Cfirls' <br />Cross Country program as one of the elite cross country teams in Ohio by leading the team to a <br />qualifying berth at the State Meet, held 'in Columbus on November 3~, for the first time since <br />1991; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS; Michelle Sikes earned the distinction as Lakewood High School's first <br />female State Champion in the 24-year history of Cross Country by winning first place at the <br />OHS.aA State Cross Country Championships at Seioto Downs, Columbus, in a time of 17:49; <br />and, <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Sikes was recognized at Scioto Downs as an All-Ohio runner for <br />the third consecutive year; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Sikes was recognized as the OHSAA Regional Cross Country <br />champion for the second consecutive year and was recognized as an. All-Region runner for the <br />third consecutive year; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Sikes was recognized as the OHSAA District Cross Country <br />champion for. the second consecutive year and was recognized as an All-District runner for the <br />third consecutive year; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by her outstanding athletic accomplishments and good sportsmanship, <br />together with the expert guidance of her dedicated coach, Daniela Andrews, Michelle Sikes has <br />brought position, recognition, and honor, not only to herself, but to our entire community, now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor hereby extend to the Michelle Sikes this <br />expression of our pride in her accomplishments, and our appreciation for the fine publicity she <br />has brought to our community. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed <br />to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Michelle Sikes c/o Lakewood High School, <br />14100 Franklin Boulevard, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 and that a copy of this Resolution be spread <br />upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />CLER.
