REFERRED TO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />1/7/02. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: 7613-02 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Durra, FitzGerald, George <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to concur with the Lakewood Planning Commission in the adoption of the November <br />26, 2001 amended Master Plan for Lakewood Park including the revisions approved by the Planning Commission <br />3anuary 2, 2002. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Charter Article X~I, S~:tion 3, Powers and Duties of the Planning Commission, <br />states that it shall be the function and duty of the Planning Commission to make and adopt a general plan for the <br />development and improvement of the City, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Charter, Article XII, Section 3 further states that the Commission shall also make <br />plans and proposals for specific improvements and projects which it deems desirable for the City, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in .July 1993 the/.a/cewood Commun/ty V/s/on was accepted as the General Plan for the <br />City of Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the /.a/~ewood Commun/ty V/s/on Physical-Environment Strategy Working Group <br />recommended that the Parks and Recreation Plan for the City should be updated to include improvements to <br />Lakewood Park, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, recognizing the growing need for rehabilitation and reconstruction of Lakewood Park's <br />basic infrastructure, in May 2000 the Administration, with Council concurrence, retained the consulting firm of <br />Brandstetter Carroll Zofcin, Inc. to update the City's Parks and Recreation Plan and to develop a Master Plan for <br />Lakewood Park, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in 3anuary 2001 the draft proposed Master Plan for Lakewood Park prepared by the <br />v. onsultant was referred by City Council to the Planning Commission for.review and recommendation, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS after an extensive community review process~ the Planning Commission held public <br />hearings in October and November 2001 on the draft proposed Master Plan to obtain comments and recommendations <br />from the general public, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, based on all of. the comments received during the community review process the Planning <br />Commission has gauged the level of community support and consensus for the recommendations in the draft Master <br />Plan for Lakewood Park, and action was taken on November 26, 2001 to adopt an amended Master Plan for Lakewood <br />Park, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on .January 2,-2002 a third public hearing was conducted at which time the Planning <br />commission took final action to incorporate revisions in the adopted November 26, 200:1 amended Master Plan for <br />Lakewood Park. A copy of said document dated .]anuary 2, 2002 is on file in the Council Clerk's office. Now therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE'Cl'TY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO; <br /> <br /> Section 1. That City Council concurs with the Planning Commission in the adoption of the Master <br />Plan for Lakewood Park, as amended November 26, 2001 and revised 3anuary 2, 2002, as it is consistent with the <br />Commun/ly V/sion and will serve as the next step toward the improvement and beautification of this important <br />Lakewood comfnunity asset. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this council concerning and <br />relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting- of this Council, and that all such <br />deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to <br />the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />President of Council <br /> <br />Approved <br /> <br /> <br />
