I~soLUTIoN NO. <br /> <br />7631-02 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan., Dunn, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION recognizing the accomplishments of Harrison <br />Elementary School in being recognized by the Education Trust, a national organi?ation. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Education Trust award was established to recognize <br />schools serving concentrations of low-income, Latino, African American or Native <br />American students; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Education Trust has idexffificd six essential clements <br />needed for school improvement including clear, coherent and rigorous academic <br />standards; a curriculm aligned with standards for all stuclems; ongoing assessment to <br />monitor progress of students; extra instructional time for students who need it; <br />mechanisms, to help faculty deepen their knowledge and evaluate the effects of their <br />instruction; and accountability systems, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Harrison School faculty and parents have worked with and <br />encouraged the school's studems to achieve, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Harrison School, in addition to receiving this award, has <br />demonstrated improvemem on the State's proficiency tests; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor commend Harrison School for <br />their cominued progress in fine education for all students. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Ms Phyllis Muth, Principal at <br /> <br />Harrison Elementary School. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />President <br />Clerk~ <br />lvlayor <br /> <br /> <br />
