RESOLUTION: 7667-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell. A RESOLUTION to honor the St. Edward ~Hgh School Eag~s Hockey Team for their outmanding performance during the 2001-2002 Hockey Seasom WHEREAS, the St. Edward Hockey program has continued their statewide reputation as one of the elite hockey programs in Ohio by Claiming their eighth hockey title, a state record; and WHEREAS, this year's Hockey team continued this tradition of excellence by finiqhino with a season record of 23 wins, 13 losses and 1 tie; and ~ WHEREAS, St. Edward finished in first place in the competitive Red North Division of the Greater Cleveland High School League, losing only to University School 2-1 in overtime in the Baron Cup Semi-Finals; and WHEREAS, the Eagles won their last six games, including the State Final over University School 5-3 to win their eighth State Championship Title; and WHEREAS, by their outstanding athletic accomplishments and good sportsmanship, together with the expert guidance of their dedicated coaches - head coach Bob Whidden, assistant coaches Rob Whidden, John Tnleta and Jim Madden, goalie consultant Scott Simmerer and trainer Joe Liss -- the 2001 St. Edward Hockey Team has brought position, recognition, and honor, not only to themselves, but to our entire community, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby extend to the. St. Edward Varsity Hockey Team this expression of our pride in your accomplishments, and our appreciation for the fine publicity you have brought to our comm~lllity. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the St. Edwards Hockey Tea~ eric Coach Bob Whidden at St. Edward High School, 13500 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 and that a copy of this Resolution he spread upon the minutes of the meeting.
