RESOLUTION: 7668-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, Roth, Seelte, Skindell. A RESOLUTION to honor the St. Edward High School Eagles Wrestling Team for their outstanding performance during the 2001-2002 Wrestling Season. WHEREAS, the St. Edward Wrestling program has continued their statewide reputation as one of the elite wrestling programs in Ohio by capturing their 18~u Division 1 State ChampionShip Title in Columbus durln~ the past season; and WHEREAS, the St. Edward Wrestling team has achieved a tradition of excellence by achieving 28 Sectional Champions, 23 District Champions, 18 State Champions and 10 National Champions; and WHEREAS, the St. Edward Wrestling team achieved a Gold Team Dual Season Record of 11-2 during the 2001-2002 season; and WHEREAS, St. Edward Wrestling team captured first place in four of their six season tournaments before capturing the State Championship Title in Columbus; and WHEREAS, by their outstanding athletic accomplishments and good sportsmanship, together, with the expert guidance of their dedicated coaches - head coach Greg Urbas and assistant coaches Matt Schmittel, John He~ Andy Gondek and Jeff Leonard -- the 2001- 2002 St. Edward Wrestling Team has brought position, recognition, and honor, not only to themselves, but to our entire community, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby extend to the St. Edward Wrestling Team this expression of our pride in your accomplishments, and our appreciation for the fine publicity you have brought to our community. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the St. Edwards Wrestling Team, c/o Coach Greg Urbas at St. Edward High School, 13500 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the meeting.
