RESOLUTION NO: 7676-02 <br /> <br /> BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, <br />George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to thank Mr. Joseph J. Arcisz, Mr. Michael McNamara and Mr. <br />Michael Kordick for their contribution of a flag mural to the community of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, In December 2001, a nearly 60-foot high painting of a furled United States <br />flag was painted on the western end of the Detroit-Warren Building at 14701 Detroit Avenue; <br />and, ' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The idea for a flag mural came from the Mayor's Community Relations <br />Task Force which convened in the days after September 11, 2001. Its members included human <br />services professionals, civic volunteers and representatives from Lakewood's schools, faith <br />communities and safety forces who looked for a way to show the city's strong belief in <br />democracy and freedom; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Joseph J. Arcisz property manager for Lakewood Center Inc. donated <br />15 gallons of paint and the site for the flag mUral which would serve as a symbolic and unifying <br />expression of our community; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr: Michael McNamara and Mr. Michael Kordick, artists, designed and <br />painted the flag mural upon a "canvas" provided by Mr. Joseph J. Arcisz. Together these <br />dedicated individuals brought this idea to fruition. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BYTHE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this' Council and Mayor, hereby extend to Mr. McNamaxa, Mr. <br />Kordick and Mr. Arcisz the appreciation of the citizens of this community for their dedicated <br />service to the Lakewood Community. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed <br />to forward a certified copies of this Resolution to Mr. Michael McNamara, Mr. Michael Kordick <br />and Mr. Joseph I. Arcisz and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in~,flrnpliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> MAYbR <br /> <br /> <br />
