Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, <br />Roth, Seelie,-SkimdelI. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 7688-02 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, <br />George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION acknowledging the 25t" Anniversary 'of the Lakewood <br />Arts Festival as a truly unique Lakewood community event and one of Greater <br />Cleveland's longest running and most successful arts festivals. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, In 1977 Lucy Sinagra, Para Gorski and Ann Brockman had <br />the vision to celebrate the arts in Lakewood and began the Lakewood Arts Festival; <br />and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, This wonderful city tradition continues to happen successfully <br />each year due to the dedication to excellence which has become the'hallmark of the <br />Lakewood Arts Festival Board of Trustees; Trudi Bodi, Ann Brockman, Karen Cooper, <br />Rosemarie De John, Kathy Heidelberg, Betty Hughes, Pat Majeski, Barbara Milenius, <br />Mary Osburn, Edna Patterson, Helen Oshaben and Kay Willis; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Lakewood Arts Festival each year maintains its high <br />standard and eclectic selection of art in mediums including glass, ceramic, water color <br />paintings, photography, wood, enamel, leather and fiber art; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood residents ranging from pre-school through their <br />senior years have benefited from over $5,000 in grant money awarded to Lakewood <br />non-profit organizations for art supplies, brushes and paint and craft items. Also, <br />through the generosity of The Board of Trustees $73,000 in scholarships have been <br />awarded to Lakewood students who are pursuing a degree in art. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby extend to the <br />appreciation and that of all the citizens of this community for their exceptional <br />community spirit and dedication to the Lakewood community. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward <br />this Resolution to the Lakewood Arts Festival c/o Ms. Pat Majeski, <br />Secretary/Coordinator and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of <br />the meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open <br />meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> PRESIDENT <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br /> <br />
