RESOLUTION NO. 7692-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell. A RESOLUTION honoring America's Firefighters who have made the supreme sacrifice while carrying out their duties of our nation and its communitieS. WHEREAS, President Ronald Reagan dedicated the Fallen Firefighters Memorial on October 4, 1981, and a memorial service is conducted on the campus at the National Emergency Training Center to remember these brave Americans, and; WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood recognizes the dedication and sacrifices the Firefighters of this country make for the protection and well-being of all our citizens, and; WHEREAS, the Firefighters of Lakewood will be honoring their fallen brothers and sisters across this nation on Sunday, October 6th, 2002, at the memorial sculpture located lat 14601 Madison Avenue, in front of Fire Station No 1; now, therefore: BE IT. RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, will commemorate the sacrifice of America's Firefighters by declaring October 6m, 2002 in the City of Lakewood as Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City of Lakewood flags will be flown at the half staff in their honor. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy this Resolution to the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, Local #382 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, at 18124 Detroit Avenue, cio Daniel J. Herdmann, Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted, in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements.
