RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7757-03 <br /> <br />BY:corrigan, Dever, Dunn, FitzGerald, <br />George, Roth, Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION for the sixth grade class of Emerson Middle School. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the sixth grade 0f Emerson Middle School took top honors at <br />the Ohio Project Citizen State Showcase which included six Ohio middle school <br />classes, who represented the winners of district level Project Citizen Showcases, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Project Citizen, directed in Ohio by the Ohio Center for Law- <br />Re~ated Education, actively engages middle school students in learning how to monitor <br />and influence public policy and encourages civic participation among students, parents, <br />and the community; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The following students participated from Emerson Middle <br />School: Hannah Eaton, Jenny Farkas, Zechery Hanson, Stephanie Herman, Anya <br />Hurley, Tyler Kadow, Sean Kinsella, Peter Malonis, Kelsey Moran, Eva Nemethy, Steve <br />Pappas, Brian Ritschel, Hilary Szabo, Mark Tuleta and Heather Zappala; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The team from Emerson Middle School presented a well- <br />researched argument calling for the installation of a drive through turn-around at their <br />school during a mock legislative hearing in actual Ohio House of Representatives <br />Hearing Rooms; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The class project from Emerson Middle School will also <br />represent the State of Ohio at the National Project Citizen State Showcase at the <br />National Conference of State Legislatures Annual Convention in San Francisco, <br />California in June 2003. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby extend to the students of <br />the sixth class and to Mrs. Ruth Pangrace, Emerson Middle School sixth grade teacher, <br />who played a vital role in assisting her sixth grade class with the Project Citizen project, <br />our congratulations for this accomplishment. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward this Resolution to Mrs. Ruth Pangrace and that a copy of this Resolution be <br />spread upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open <br />meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />C'ERK ¥ <br /> <br />MA'COR <br /> <br /> <br />
