RESOLU3IONNO. 7782-03 BY: Corrigan, Dever, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, Roth, Seelie. A RESOLUTION proclaiming September 2003 Speed Awareness Safety Month. WHEREAS, As a pedestrian-friendly community and as a community with over 9,000 school age children, providing our children with a safe environment is one the most important resources we can provide for our community. WHEREAS, The Lakewood Early Childhood PTA, in cooperation with the Lakewood DMsion of Police has collaborated to implement a unique "Hey! Slow Down - Kids At Play" lawn-sign program, to raise awareness and provide a safer environment for our children and the many pedestrians who utilize our neighborhood streets. WHEREAS, A major goal of our safety enforcement program is education and the ultimate goal of our traffic laws is to obtain voluntary compliance from our citizens. Getting the message out to our residents through this unique Speed Awareness Program will assist our safety forces in our continuing efforts to make our community a safer place for our children, pedestrians and all who call Lakewood home. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE C~q'Y OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF 'OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mayor hereby recognize the month of September as Lakewood Speed Awareness Safety Month in support of the efforts put forth by the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA and the Lakewood Division of Police. Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements.
