RESOLUTION NO, 7786-03 BY' <br /> <br />Corrigan, DeYer, Dunn, FitzGerald <br />George, Roth, Seelie <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION supporting the grant application by the Division of Police to <br />the Ohio Attorney General's Office for funding for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance <br />Education program, and commending the Division of Police for its continued <br />efforts to educate young people of the City of Lakewood as to the hazards of <br />alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Division of Police (Police) has operated the Drug Abuse <br />Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program since 1990; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D.A.R.E. programs in all <br />elementary and middle schools within the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on the young <br />people of the City through education as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and graduating from the <br />D.A.R.E. program increases annually; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding to support the continued operation of the D.A.R.E. <br />program is available from the Ohio Attorney General's office. Now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor and the Council hereby support the grant <br />.appl!cati.on .by th.e..D,M..sion of Police to the Ohio Attorney Genera's Office for the <br />runoing for me city s L~rug Abuse Resistance Education program. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the Division of <br />Police for its continued efforts in educating young people of the City as to the <br />hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
