Cain for her public <br />service as Mayor of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Madeline A. Cain was elected to the office of Mayor of <br />the City of Lakewood for a term commencing January 1, 1996, and served <br />continuously in that capadty until December 31, 2003, and <br /> <br /> WHE/~AS, her tenure is marked with many achievements <br />including her election as the first woman mayor in Lakewood, the retention and <br />expansion of local businesses, park an infi:astructure improvements, bond rating <br />upgrades, and expanded regional cooperation; ail while maintaining the highest <br />degree of fiscal responsibility, and <br /> <br /> WI-IEREAS, during her eight years of service, this Comacli has <br />observed Madeline A. Cain as a conscientious, effective and respected public <br />offidal working diligently and extensively for the promotion, progress and <br />betterment of the City of Lakewood and its residents, with integrity, <br />innovativeness, and dedication to public service and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Madeline A. Cain transcended differences of fa2th and <br />background to bring Lakewood together as a commtmity being courageous in the <br />face of controversy and standing by ali of Lakewood's residents, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that such outstanding public <br />service rendered by Madeline A. Cain, be given public cogrdzance and <br />recognition, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY 22-IE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br />0~0' <br /> <br /> Section 1 That this Council extends to Madel~ne A Cain, its <br />appreciation and the appreciation of ail of the citizens of th/s commtmity for her <br />years of distinguished public service as a Mayor of the City of Lakewood and <br />further that this Council wishes her continued years of success, health and <br />prosperity. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
