RESOLU//ON NO 7856-04 <br /> <br />FitzGerald, t,~d±gang' Seelie. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to honor Thomas I. George for serving the City of Lakewood as an <br />outstanding member of Council for sixteen years. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Thomas George attended the Lakewood Public Schools through I969 and <br />upon his graduation, attended Ohio State University, graduating with a Journalism degree in <br />1973; and <br /> <br /> Wt~iEREAS, during kis four terms on Council, Mr George served as Vice-President and <br />Chairman of Council's irfflaential Finance Committee As such, he presided over twelve budget <br />hearings and made more presentations on Lakewood's behalf to Wall Street man/cipal analysts <br />than any other Lakewood official; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Thomas George has sponsored and passed numerous taws including <br />Lakewood's Prevailing Wage Law, laws to protect city workers, laws to address distressed <br />properties owned by absentee landlords and has passed legislation to combat excessive <br />residential stre~ speeding; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, aside from making himself available to the needs and enncems of his Ward <br />2 residents for the past sixteen years, Mr. George has served on the Board of Directors of the <br />Ohio Municipal League; where he was recently named 2na Vice-President, on the Board of <br />Trustees of Lakewood Hospital, a member of Lakewood Kiwanis, honorary member of the <br />Lakewood/Rocky R/ver Rotary, a member of Ohio State Akanni Association and Advoyates, and <br />a member oftbe National League of Cities Committee for Energy, Natural Resources and <br />Environment.; and <br /> <br /> .WHEREAS, Tom George bes served his constituents well, has been not only a colleague <br />but a friend to many at Lakewood City Hall, and will continue to do so at a higher and mere <br />challenging level as he moves on to become the Mayor of the City of Lakewood; end, now, <br />therefore: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY rlt'~[]~ CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Sectional That we honor Thomas J. George for his outstanding aceomplishmems during <br />his sixteen-year service on Lakewood City Council. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby anthorized and directed to <br />forward'a certified copy of this resolution to Thonms J.
