RESOLUTION NO. 7881-04 BY: Corrigan~ Demro~ Dever~ Dunn. FitzGerald. Madigan, Seelie. A RESOLUTION procIaimíng the week of March 21-27, 2004 as Spring Severe Weather Safety Awareness Week and urging participation in safety activities; WHEREAS, the Cíty of Lakewood joins the Governor of the State of Ohio, and the Board of Commissíoners of Cuyahoga County declaring Spríng Severe Weather Safety Awareness Week; and, WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is located in the area of the State of Ohio described as Tornado Alley, wherein the potential hazards of loss of life and injury to persons and property from tornadoes are high; and Cuyahoga County is also located in an area of the State of Ohio wherein there is the potential for the loss of life and injury due to the perils of floods; and, WHEREAS, community awareness and planning for such threats as tornadoes and/or flooding can result in saving of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special populations such as in schools, day cares; nursing homes and health care facilities; and, WHEREAS, a Tornado Safety Exercíse will be conducted on Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at 9'50 a.m., and that such exercíse shall be specifically desígned for county-wide elementary school and local municipal participation and for testing of the Emergency Broadcast System and other appropriate components of the emergency management; now, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' Section 1 That thís Council and Mayor join with the Governor of Ohio and Commíssioners of Cuyahoga County ín declaring March 21 - 27, 2004 as Spríng Severe Weather Safety Awareness Week in the City of Lakewood and support the cOlmty-vvide Tornado Safety Exercise that will be conducted on Wednesday, March 24,2004 at 9'50 a.m. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy this Resolution to: Steven J Terry, Director, Department of Justice Affairs, and to Murray A. Withrow, Manager, Emergency Services, 1255 Euclid Avenue, Suite 102, Cleveland, Ohio 44115-1807 and a that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the mmutes of this meeting, Section 3 It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this COlUlCil and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. ~,~.
