RESOLUTION NO. 7898-04 BY: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, <br /> FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie, <br /> <br /> A RESOLU~ON honoring Auxiliary Major William Beech of the Lakewood Police Department <br />Auxiliary Unit <br /> <br /> WHEREAS William Beech has served the City of Lakewood and its citizens and visitors for more <br />than twenty-nine years since first joining the Lakewoed Police Department Auxiliary Unit in September, <br />1975; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS William Beech served honorably n the Auxil an/and rose through the ranks of the <br />un t, being appo nted Sergeant in 1979, Lieutenant in :[984, and Major of the Auxiliaries in 3uly, :~985, <br />and from that date he has led the unit for nineteen (:t9) years with dedication, conscientiousness, and <br />commitment to service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS William Beech's leadership as Major has included responsibdlty for the training, <br />scheduling, recruitment, and overall morale and fitness of the Auxiliaries, and his service has amounted <br />to more than Nine Thousand Five Hundred (9,500) hours of volunteer time to the Lakewood Police <br />Department, with service at every possible detail for which the Auxiliaries have been engaged, including <br />the Fourth of .]uly, Band ConceC. s, Road Races, Football Games, and numerous natural disaster responses <br />within the City of Lakewood; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) members elected thereto determines that <br />this resolution is an emergency measure, and that this resolution shall take effect at the earliest date <br />possible as set forth in ARTICLE III, SECTONS :tO and :[3 of the SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF THE <br />CFR( OF LAKEWOOD, and that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public property, <br />health and safety, and to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments in that the <br />Auxiliary Major is so deserving of this honor. Now Therefore, <br /> <br /> BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section L The recognition and appreciation for Auxiliary Major William Beech and his <br /> service for more than twentymine (29) years to the Lakewoed Police Department and the citizens of <br /> Lakewoed is hereby acknowledged and hereby approved by this Cound]. He is to know that his service, <br /> leadership, and dedication will be sorely missed. His friendship with the Lakewood Police and with all of <br /> hfs fellow Auxiliaries will long be remembered. He should also know that he goes forward from this day <br /> with every good wish and cheer for his futrure from the grateful citizens who have benefited from his <br /> long service and dedication to the Lakewood Police Auxiliary Unit. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and <br />relaBng to the passage of this O~dinance were passed in an open meeting of this Council and that all <br />deliberations Of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such actions were in meetings <br />open to the public and in compliance with legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary <br />for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare in the City and <br />for the usual daily operation of the City for the reasons set forth and defined in the preamble to this <br />ordinance, and provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least five tS) of its members elected to <br />Coundl, this resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption by the Council and <br />approval by the Mayor otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by <br /> <br />President of Counci! <br /> <br /> <br />
