Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION to proclaim the week of June ¡;, 2004 as Dignity of Human Rights <br />Pride Week in Lakewood, Ohio, thereby recognizing the LGBT community for its <br />many and varied contributions that have enriched our civic life and aided in creating a <br />more accepting society and community. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood as a community values human rights above all and respects the rights of each <br />iodividual; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, June 28, 2004 marks the 35th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebe1llon io Ne"" York City's <br />Gteenwich Village. The Stonewall Rebe1llon is commonly regarded as the advent of the <br />modern civil rights movement for the lesbian, gay, bisexual artd transgender (LGBT) <br />community artd contributes to the univ!)Isal recognition of civil rights for all; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, visibility and strength io diversity is critical to secure equal rights for all An¡ericans; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood City Council is committed to equal rights for all Americans and strongly <br />opposes discrimination in any form based on sexual identity, race, religion, gender, national <br />origio and age; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is pleased and honored to celebrate the week of June 6, 2004 with the <br />Pride community of Lakewood. <br /> <br />NOW, TIIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TIlE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />g,ection 1, That the Lakewood City Council, proclaims the week of June 6. 2004 as "Digµ.ity of Human <br />Rights and Pride Week" in Lakewood, and is proud and hónored to recognize Lak~ood's Pride <br />community. Best Wishes for an e:qjoyabJe celebratjon. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council bè and she is hereby authorized and directed, to spread upon the <br />minutes of this meeting, a copy of this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3.
