<br />Resolution No.: <br /> <br />7971-05 <br /> <br />By: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION proclaiming the week of March 13-19,2005 as Spring Severe Weather <br />Safety Awareness Week and urging participation in safety activities; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood joins the Governor of the State of Ohio, and the <br />Board of Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in declaring Spring Severe Weather Safety <br />Awareness Week; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is located in the area of the State of Ohio described as <br />Tornado Alley, wherein the potential hazards of loss of life and injury to persons and property <br />from tornadoes are high; and Cuyahoga County is also located in an area of the State of Ohio <br />wherein there is the potential for the loss of life and injury due to the perils of floods; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, community awareness and plamling for such threats as tornadoes and/or <br />flooding can result in saving of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special <br />populations such as in schools, day cares, nursing homes and health care facilities; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a Tornado Safety Exercise will be conducted on Wednesday, March 16, <br />2004, at 9-50 a"m" and that such exercise shall be specifically designed for county-wide <br />elementary school and local municipal participation and for testing of the Emergency Broadcast <br />System and other appropriate components of the emergency management; now, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OI-IIO: <br /> <br />Section I That this Council and Mayor join with the Governor of Ohio and <br />Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in declaring March 13 - 19, 2005 as Spring Severe <br />Weather Safety Awareness Week in the City of Lakewood and support Jhe county-wide Tornado <br />Safety Exercise that will be conducted on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 9'50 a.m <br /> <br />Section 2 That the Clerk of Council be and sbe is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy this Resolution to' Steven J. Terry, Director, Department of Justice Affairs, and <br />to Murray A Withrow, Manager, Emergency Services, 1255 Euclid Avenue, Suite 102, <br />Cleveland, Ohio 44115- 1807 and a that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of <br />this meeting <br /> <br />Section 3.
