<br />BEEERRED 5!2/05., .. <br /> <br />Resolution No 7991-05 <br /> <br />BY'· Corrigan ~ Demrt', Dever, Dunn, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor as Director of Public Safety, on behalf of <br />the City, to commend Paramedic Scott Russell for providing timely emergency medical <br />assistance while off-duty' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Scott responded to a motorcycle accident in lhe high-speed lane of <br />Interstate gO while he was heading home from Fire Station #1; and, <br /> <br />c; WHEREAS, he risked his own life to work in concert with an off:duty Lieutenant <br />P~ramedic from the Cleveland Fire Department to provide immediate medical attention <br />tothe motorcyclist; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, he was able to open and manage the victim's airway: and maneuver <br />him into a neutral position to protect the cervical spine; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, he continued to provide aid, without the protection of gloves, until <br />the arrival of Lakewood EMS and Fire apparatus; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these courageous actions exemplify the high standard of care <br />maintained by our EMS providers; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the selfless actions of this Division of <br />Fire Paramedic; now, therefore.' <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' <br /> <br />Section 1 That this Council and Mayor wish to commend Division of Fire <br />Paramedic Scott Russell for his dedication to providing immediate medical attention to <br />those in need <br /> <br />Section 2 That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward <br />a copy this Resolution to' Firefighter/Paramedic Scott Russell and that a copy of this <br />REisolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Section 3.
