<br />Resolution No <br /> <br />7995-05 <br /> <br />By: Cortigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, <br />FitzGerald. Madigan. Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION proclaiming the week of June ]3th through June 19, 2005 as United <br />States Army Week in Lakewood. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The United States Army is celebrating its 230th Birthday on June 14, 2005, <br />with the theme "A Call to Duty" On this day the United States Army wi1l recognize with great <br />pride the thousands of young Americans who have answered, and will continue to answer, the <br />call to service. Those young men and women have shown a profound sense. of duty, selfless <br />service and respect through acts of great honor, integrity and personal courage; ánd, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The All-Volunteer Army is a uniquely American phenomenon that began as <br />an experiment at the height of the Cold War and the quality and success of the volunteer force <br />remains unprecendented; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Today, the United States Army is recognized as the premier army in the <br />world, with America's volunteer soldiers serving in 120 countries; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, American Soldiers are voluntarily foregoing comfort and wealth, facing <br />hardship and sacrifice, and confronting danger in defense of the Nation, the United States Army <br />is and will remain a testament to the Success of Army recruiters in attracting the Nation's best <br />and brightest to volunteer Now therefore; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' <br /> <br />Section I That this Council and Mayor declare June 13th through June 19th, 2005 as <br />United States Army Week in the City of Lakewoöd. I ask all citizens to join with us in this <br />salute as we express our gratitude to those who have served and those who are now serving to <br />protect our nation and its freedoms <br /> <br />Section 2 That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy this Resolution to: Austin D' Alton, Lieutenant Colonel, UB. Army, <br />Commanding Officer, Department of the Army, 1240 East 9th Street, Room 1269, Cleveland, <br />Ohio 44199-2001 and a that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this <br />meeting <br /> <br />Section' 3 It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Cáurrcil concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />anq that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that r{<sulted in such <br />fonnal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requìrements <br /> <br />Adopted' Î>1v-..¡ ;, [ l..P 0 ç- <br /> <br />7~-~ <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />Approved' M 17 /7, ;:; () 0.5- <br /> <br />
