RESOLUTION NO: 7996-05 BY: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, FitzGerald. Madigan. Seelie. A RESOLUTION recognizing that the month of May 2005 has been designated as National Preservation Month and acknowledging the 2005 Preservation Award winners within the City of Lakewood. WHERAS, the City of Lakewood has been identified as having many historic prope'rties and has long been recognized as a leader in historic preservation issues; and WHERAS, the Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board has been established to seNe in an -advisory capacity for the purpose of educating, informing, and making recommendations to City Officials, Departments, Boards and Commission, and the community on matters relating to historic preservation¡ and WHEREAS, the Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board has instituted an awards program toihonor exemplary projects that have cqntributed significantly to improving the quality of life in the City of Lakewood through the preservation of our historic archjtectural resources; and WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Asimakis of the Hylander Restaurant and Mr. Frederick Katona for 13002-04 Madison Avenue have been selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Award for Commercial Revitalization; and WHEREAS, Mr. Tom O'Dougherty, President of the Clifton Club has been selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Award for a Sympathetic Addition for Accessibility; and WH!;REAS, Mr. & Mrs. Courtney Smith have been selected to receive the 2005: Preservation Award for RehabjJjtatioh; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bernard Hoefsmit and Ms. Shay Fitzgerald, have been selected to receive the 2005 PreselVation Award for Historic Rehabilitation; and WHEREAS, Dr Richard H. Parks, Jr, and the congregation of Lakewood United Methodist Church has been selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Award for Sustained Maintenance; and WHEREAS, Mr, & Mrs. Robert Sweeney and Ms. Patricia Oliver, have been selected to receive )~e 2005 Preservation Award for a Sympathetic Addition; and WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Haber have been selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Award for New Porch Construction; and WHEREAS, Mr, & Mrs, Charles Truett have been selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Honor Award; and WHEREAS, the intent of this awards program is to recognize and publicize the preservation, rehabilitation, adaptive reüse, and sustained maintenance of historically and architecturally significant properties in the City of Lakewood. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE cm OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor recognizes that the month of May 2005 has been designated as National Preservation Month and acknowledges the 2005 Preservation Award winners who have contributed significantly to improving the City of Lakewood through the preservation of our historic architectural resources, Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Reso!ution to Richard ]" Sicha, Chairman, Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread up0l"! the minutes of this meeting. SECTION 3, It is hereby found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were passed in open meetings of this Council, and that aU such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in any such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with aJllegal requirements including the City's Charter and Codified Ordinances Adopted' iv'-."
