<br />RESOLUTION NO: <br /> <br />7996-05 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, <br />FitzGerald. Madigan. Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION recognizing that the month of May 2005 has been designated as National Preservation Month and <br />acknowledging the 2005 Preservation Award winners within the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br />WHERAS, the City of Lakewood has been identified as having many historic prope'rties and has long been <br />recognized as a leader in historic preservation issues; and <br /> <br />WHERAS, the Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board has been established to seNe in an -advisory capacity for the <br />purpose of educating, informing, and making recommendations to City Officials, Departments, Boards and Commission, <br />and the community on matters relating to historic preservation¡ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board has instituted an awards program toihonor exemplary projects <br />that have cqntributed significantly to improving the quality of life in the City of Lakewood through the preservation of our <br />historic archjtectural resources; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Asimakis of the Hylander Restaurant and Mr. Frederick Katona for 13002-04 Madison Avenue <br />have been selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Award for Commercial Revitalization; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Tom O'Dougherty, President of the Clifton Club has been selected to receive the 2005 <br />Preservation Award for a Sympathetic Addition for Accessibility; and <br /> <br />WH!;REAS, Mr. & Mrs. Courtney Smith have been selected to receive the 2005: Preservation Award for <br />RehabjJjtatioh; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Bernard Hoefsmit and Ms. Shay Fitzgerald, have been selected to receive the 2005 PreselVation <br />Award for Historic Rehabilitation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Dr Richard H. Parks, Jr, and the congregation of Lakewood United Methodist Church has been <br />selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Award for Sustained Maintenance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr, & Mrs. Robert Sweeney and Ms. Patricia Oliver, have been selected to receive )~e 2005 <br />Preservation Award for a Sympathetic Addition; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Haber have been selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Award for New Porch <br />Construction; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr, & Mrs, Charles Truett have been selected to receive the 2005 Preservation Honor Award; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the intent of this awards program is to recognize and publicize the preservation, rehabilitation, <br />adaptive reüse, and sustained maintenance of historically and architecturally significant properties in the City of <br />Lakewood. NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE cm OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor recognizes that the month of May 2005 has been designated as <br />National Preservation Month and acknowledges the 2005 Preservation Award winners who have contributed significantly <br />to improving the City of Lakewood through the preservation of our historic architectural resources, <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy <br />of this Reso!ution to Richard ]" Sicha, Chairman, Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board, and that a copy of this Resolution be <br />spread up0l"! the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />SECTION 3, It is hereby found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating <br />to the passage of this Resolution were passed in open meetings of this Council, and that aU such deliberations of this <br />Council and of any of its committees that resulted in any such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with aJllegal requirements including the City's Charter and Codified Ordinances <br /> <br />Adopted' iv'-."
