Resolution No: 8012 -05 By: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, FitzGerald, Madigan. A RESOLUTION proclaiming the week of July 17 - July 23",2005 as Childhood Lead Poisoning PreVentíon Week in the City of Lakewood WHEREAS, childhood lead poisoning remmns a health risk for Ohio children between the ages of 1 and 6; and, WHEREAS, data of the year 2003 demonstrates that 113,078 children were tested and 4,765 were found to have elevated levels oflead in their blood; and, WHEREAS, increased levels of lead in the blood have been found to cause learning disabilities, hearing loss, and other physical and mental development problems at even lower levels than previously believed; and, WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Ohió Department of Health have released guidelines promoting -steps to prevent childhood lead poisoning and its effects on children through comprehensive childhood lead poisoning prevention efforts targeted at the highest risk areas. Now therefore; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHiO' Section 1. That this Council and Mayor join with the Governor öf Ohìo in declaring the week of July 17 - July 23, 2005 as Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Week in the City of Lakewood. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy this Resolution to: Jean Gorskj City of Lakewood Division of Health, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting Section 3 It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements.
